Taxi

I met my gf after work at bugis for dinner and a short shopping trip around bugis village.

We walk around and i gt myself some Tees and herself a nice top with golden wordings.

The time is 1010pm and we decided to take a cab home instead as we were quite tired. When we walked to the Q at bugis junction, we were horrified to see the "dragon" formed with many busy on their hp calling a cab. Concluding we were no match for it, we walked to Fu Lu Shou complex to wait for cabs.

There we see unless traffic of taxis and cars zooming past. Many cabs were hired but there were some empty and refuse to stop when we flagged them. ( how many times have this happen to u?)

To add to our misery, some inconsiderate worms cut in front of us and gt a cab! Why the injustice?!!

We waited for 45 mins and still were stranded at the side of the road. My gf was getting tired and upset. Finally we had to walk all the way to Raffles' Hospital and gt a cab back home.

My point in saying this is that no matter how public transport has improve eg MRT and SBS, cabs can a great help yet a pain in the A*S! Why? i've seen countless times a cab driver refuse to pick up fare at the road and will only respond to a booking of cab via hotline. Thus they earn extra, at the expense of our miserable situation when we are stranded and need a cab fast.

Another incident was at Rivervale mall, my gf was late for work, guessing there will be a lot of ppl waiting for cab, she called the booking line and gt a cab straight a way. She was barely a 100m from the taxi stand and when she gt there, the cab was there waiting for her with NO ONE waiting in line.

After she gt into the cab, she was told that the driver was already at the taxi stand and received her booking on his moniter. So i can say my gf was "suay" to allow the driver to earn extra when he was there already an all he had to do was press the accept button on his moniter.

I'm not saying taxi driver are bad, they are jus makin a living. But there r a few that really make me blow up. I've learn that sometimes, esp. peak hours, its best to take the train no matter how tired u are. You never know you may have a raw deal with the time and effort spent on waiting for one.

Hell

This is an email from a fren and i find it interestin and hilarious..enjoy

Subject: Hell

The following is a question given on a University of Liverpool chemistry final exam. The answer by one student was so profound that the professor shared it with colleagues via the Internet.

Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law that gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following:

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Most of these religions state that, if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell.

With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell. Because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay constant, the volume of Hell must expand proportionately as souls are added.

This gives two possibilities:
1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over. So which is it? If we accept the postulate given to me by Sandra during my freshman year, that "it will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you," and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number 2 must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is endothermic and has already frozen over.

The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is extinct...leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being - which explains why, last night, Sandra kept shouting "Oh my God."

THIS STUDENT RECEIVED THE ONLY "A"

Old School

For all those out there who still remember the good old days.
(I extracted the best bit which is most relevent to our time)

You grew up watching He-man, MASK, Transformers, Silver Hawk and Mickey Mouse. Not to forget, Ninja turtles, My Little Pony and Smurfs too.

You know what SBC stands for.

You find your friends with pagers handphone cool in Secondary school.

Envelopes given to us to donate to Sharity Elephant every Children's Day.

You were there when they first introduced MRT here. You went for the first ride with your parents and you would kneel on the seat to see the scenery.

The most vulgar thing you said was asshole and idiot and THE MOST EXTREME WAS 'super white'...you just couldn't bring yourself to say the hokkien relative.

Catching was the IN thing and twist as the magic word.

Your English workbooks was made of some damn poor quality paper that was smooth and yellow.

The only computer lessons in school involved funny pixellised characters in 16 colours walking about trying to teach you maths.

Science was fun with the balsam and the angsana being the most important plants of our lives, guppies and swordtail being the most important fish.

Who can forget Ahmad, Bala, Sumei and John, eternalized in our minds from the textbooks. Even Mr Wally & Mr. Yakki. What abt Miss Lala??? And Zaki and Tini in Malay Textbooks?

We wear BM2000, BATA, or Pallas shoes.

Your form teacher taught you Maths, Science and English.

You see Wee Kim Wee's face in the school hall.

Collecting and battling erasers was a pastime for boys

Class monitors and prefects loved to say "You talk somemore, I write your name ah!"

You brought every single book to school, even though there was one thing called the timetable.

Bad things do happen to good people

" life is like a box of chocolates"

As said by Forrest Gump played by Tom Hanks.

That was my fave show when i was small, till now it still is. Somehow everytime i watch it, i never fail to be inspired. Hollywood don't make these kind of movies anymore. The last time a movie moved me was "Passion of the Chirst". But of course, as a Christian it was what i believe in.

If only people see the world like Forrest Gump did, will it be a better place? I'm not askin people to be as stupid as he is, but the simple and equal perspective he has for everyone. Including the president of ths US. Stupid you might say, but i see him differently.

Other's call him stupid, that doesn't seem to bother him at all. When was the last time someone else hurt you with the words said. For some of us, it can be an everyday affair. I got pretty much when i was growing up. You know the usual stuff when parents compare you with the neighbour's kids.

Now that we are all grown up, what next? Life has it ups and downs and it seems that we are jus runnning in circles. True, to a certain extend but are we placed here on this world jus for a time such like this?

When i was growing up i always feel i was an "accident". A lonely child with 3 much older sisters.
Life do packs a lot of suprises. I'm one of them! haha..at least to my parents i am. So life goes on, from primary school till my graduation from shatec was a good 23 years. What will be the next chapter in my life, i always been asking myself that ever since i could start to think.

Somehow " life is like a box of chocolates" seem even more relevent now compared to the time i've watched the movie as a small boy. As a grown up, responsibilities sets in, decisions i have to make. All these leads to another to another to another "sub-plot" of my life. I can never know what life will bring, but i'm sure, anyone can make life the best possible. Matter of choice.

Or rather, how much you want it to be.

Everyone goes through tests, what test does life bring you?

As of John Proctor in the play "The Crucible" whereas he rather face death than betrayal of his conscience shows us that Man too has to go through fire to be purified to extract the pure element from impurities.

Alas, Life still goes on no matter what it throws at you.

Through fire and ice, i thred
Knowledge from above, i've no regret
Whom should i see at the end of the road
Take heed, its going to stumble
Do not listen to whispering ears
As it will bound to hinder
Flowing visions in your slumber
Go thereforth to seize the moment
The time of the day from hereforth

To all my Friends, do not be dishearted. You are never alone when things goes wrong.
