Dinner at Grandma's

After my grandfather passed away, my grandmother now lives alone with her maid. Every week my mum and her sisters will go back to visit her. And since i've not seen her for sometime, i decided to pay her a visit and my mum also told me to cook sumthing for my grandma and aunties.

So this is what i came out:

Stuffed Chicken Roulade with ham and shitake mushrooms
Potato puree
Tomato sauce and Mix salad in Garlic and Honey dressing.

Shatec Graduation 2007

Finally its official! I got my Diploma in Culinary Arts. Had my graduation at the Shangri-la hotel along with my classmates.

Who wants to live forever?

One of my fave rock bands is Queen. They were among the greatest at what they do during their heyday.

While listenin to their classic Bohemian Rhapsody, i was reminded again what made the band stand out. Their frontman Freddie Mercury who passed away from Aids. He was somewhat special, with his amazing vocals rocked everyone whenever Queen performed. Yet was not held back by his sexuality. During his last days, he held strong and performed to his hardest. Queen did a few songs for movies like "Iron Eagle" and "highlander" movies. And one song " who wants to live forever" from the highlander movie jus struck me so deeply.

Food

I love food and love cooking. Every now and than some of my frens will come over to my place to have dinner with me.


Beef Lasagna

Pasta with white wine, bacon, chopped garlic and parsley.


Tiramisu for dessert. Dun look much from the pic but tasted great. Everyone grabbed a spoon and jus digged in.

Spooky

Was readin my best fren Melvin the evil one's blog and he was sharing his experiences at the old changi hospital. To be honest i wouldn't find myself in his position, simply to say i've no guts. I'm not ashame to admit that.

But well i had my share of spooks too, all happen when i was serving my NS. My camp was used by the British during colonial rule so its veri old, but have moved to a new location now. So the old Keat Hong camp which i spend 2 years of my life now stands dark with abandoned sheds and buildings. Lets jus say i wun recommand you to go there at nite.

My first experience was durin my BMT( basic military training). At that time we slept on old sponge beds with small metal cupboards to place our staff by the bedside. After lights off at one time, i was fast asleep till i was awoken by a loud metal sound. Apparently its the sound of one of the empty metal cupboards draggin against the concrete floor. So you can imagine what kind of loud and disturbing sound it is.
I was freaked out and dare not get up to see who was moving the cupboard at such a late hour. So i shut my eyes and try to get back to sleep.

The next morning, the cupboards were at their original places as if nothin has happened. So i asked around my bunkmates to check whether did they hear anything the nite before. The frightening part is that all of them heard the sound too. We thought might be our sergent playing a prank but our door was closed. So who was moving the cupboard?

Another incident was even more scary. I had this certain bloke in my platoon who is always reporting sick. My first thought was CHAO KENG* ( army term for malingering)
But it so happen that one time he got veri sick and got Att C ( which is MC) so he could go home rest. During BMT, we had to make our beds veri neat. We had to tie and pull the bedsheets tight that when you flick a coin on it, it will jump up. So that nite this guy was not in camp, the next mornin we found a human shape imprinted on his bed, as if someone slept there. The bedsheets are tight and none of us laid on his bed so that shouldn't be the case. And since our beds are made of sponge, everytime we wake up, the contour of our body will leave marks on the bed. We all saw it and dare not utter a word, so we jus turn around and walked away.

When this guy came back, we told him bout his bed and he was kinda like stunned and immediately changed to another bed. After my BMT i was posted to another bunk and since than nothin has happened. But i've heard stories of others seeing "things" around the camp.

I had another weird experience and this time its at Thailand having an overseas training with my unit. But its a long story so i wun say it here. If you are interested to know, you can come ask me.

Yummy!

Dear came to pick me up from cell and she say she's hungry. I had some leftover pizza dough,spaghetti and mozzarella cheese.

My mum say she wan to eat spaghetti. So with what i can find from my fridge, i digged out some chix sausages and grey prawns. After slicing the sausages, I've to cook the prawns than deshell them. Next is rolling out the dough to make my thin crust pizzas.




Thin crust and only thin crust. That's the way i like my pizzas to be.

Next is my mum's, i wanted to do just a simple pasta dish with tomato sauce, sausages and prawns. But since I've some cheese left from the pizzas, i dun wan to waste it so i did baked pasta for her.

Goodbye

My grandfather passed away not too long ago.And for those who came to his wake, will realise what a life he lived. He worked hard and played hard, to a point that he had no regrets for he lived life to the fullest.

He passed away jus 2 days after celebrating my Nephew Reuben's 1st birthday. He left a happy and blessed man.


All the grandchildren at his 83rd birthday.

I'll miss you grandpa but i know you are at a better place now.
