Taxi

I met my gf after work at bugis for dinner and a short shopping trip around bugis village.

We walk around and i gt myself some Tees and herself a nice top with golden wordings.

The time is 1010pm and we decided to take a cab home instead as we were quite tired. When we walked to the Q at bugis junction, we were horrified to see the "dragon" formed with many busy on their hp calling a cab. Concluding we were no match for it, we walked to Fu Lu Shou complex to wait for cabs.

There we see unless traffic of taxis and cars zooming past. Many cabs were hired but there were some empty and refuse to stop when we flagged them. ( how many times have this happen to u?)

To add to our misery, some inconsiderate worms cut in front of us and gt a cab! Why the injustice?!!

We waited for 45 mins and still were stranded at the side of the road. My gf was getting tired and upset. Finally we had to walk all the way to Raffles' Hospital and gt a cab back home.

My point in saying this is that no matter how public transport has improve eg MRT and SBS, cabs can a great help yet a pain in the A*S! Why? i've seen countless times a cab driver refuse to pick up fare at the road and will only respond to a booking of cab via hotline. Thus they earn extra, at the expense of our miserable situation when we are stranded and need a cab fast.

Another incident was at Rivervale mall, my gf was late for work, guessing there will be a lot of ppl waiting for cab, she called the booking line and gt a cab straight a way. She was barely a 100m from the taxi stand and when she gt there, the cab was there waiting for her with NO ONE waiting in line.

After she gt into the cab, she was told that the driver was already at the taxi stand and received her booking on his moniter. So i can say my gf was "suay" to allow the driver to earn extra when he was there already an all he had to do was press the accept button on his moniter.

I'm not saying taxi driver are bad, they are jus makin a living. But there r a few that really make me blow up. I've learn that sometimes, esp. peak hours, its best to take the train no matter how tired u are. You never know you may have a raw deal with the time and effort spent on waiting for one.
