NightWish

I was on youtube and came across a band ..which i was so amazed that i wan to let you guys know bout them.. and they are called NightWish from Finland.

They are a metal, Symphonic rock band formed in 1996. Fronted by a girl Tarja Turunen, with her high and opera like vocals, she makes Amy Lee from Evanescence seem weak and child play. Nightwish's guitarist Emppu is a real maestro in his own right. i've never seen anyone play like him, Rock On!

Now i'm not a big metal fan cause usually you hear nothin but trashing guitar riffs and neverendin drums thumping. I can say its pure noise but Nightwish came to me with something different. Their songs are full of soul and depth. Despite the heavy distortion and quick drums, the songs are "listenable" and enjoyable i can say.

And the keyboards, add a memorising and new age feel. Something i've not come across in any other band. Songs i recommend are, Walking in the air, Nemo, Wish i had an angel, Wish you are here and Tenth man down to name a few. The songs range from slow spine tinklin tracks with haunting vocals from Tarja to fast paced kick a** metal rock that can eat anything up in their tracks.

To me, to enjoy songs from Nightwish, you musn't be someone that just listens to rock, but you must really love and embrace rock. ( punk rock does not count)
Cause Nightwish may tend to be bit heavy to people who dn't normally listen to the genre.

Tarja left the band in 2005 with new member Marco taking over bass and vocals. The band still rocks but somehow i feel they lost the soul and identity which Tarja gave to the band for so many years. But nevertheless Nightwish is still a band to look out for.
